Influence factors of thermal transfer printing process

Heat transfer printing is a process, as an important link in the whole printing process, it is closely related to other links, how to control the stability of the process is an important guarantee of printing quality. Below, let’s takes a look at the important factors affecting the heat transfer printing process.

01

1. Heat printing head

The heat printing head mainly consists of a surface film protective layer, a bottom film protective layer and heating elements.

Heat transfer printing speed depends on the time required for each line of text. Therefore, the heat transfer head and transfer paper should have good performance, so that the heat generated by the heating element can quickly pass through the protective layer, transfer paper substrate and gap finally to the substrate surface, in order to ensure that the ink has enough transfer time.

2. The ink

The composition of heat transfer printing ink is generally pigment (pigment or dye), wax and oil three parts

When printing, the viscosity of different ink is directly related to the heating temperature, and the heating temperature should be strictly controlled with the viscosity of ink.

3. Transfer paper

Good thermal performance due to the transfer experience is to be completed by means of high temperature, so the material of the transfer paper must be able to withstand the impact of the transfer temperature, continuous properties unchanged. In general, the thermal performance of the base material of thermal transfer paper, which can be reflected by the following factors:

a. The lower thermal resistance and thinner of the substrate, the better the heat transfer performance is.

b. The smoother of the substrate surface, the better the thermal performance is.

c. Heat resistance hot stamping temperature is generally about 300℃, the base material must be able to ensure that the main performance does not change at this temperature.

4. Substrates surface

The experience shows that a bit of a rough surface substrates in the print quality is good, this is an obvious characteristic of heat transfer. Because the rough surface of the substrate indicates that the substrate has a larger surface energy, the ink on the transfer paper can be very well transferred to the substrate, compared with the ideal level and order; But too rough will affect the normal transfer of ink, is not conducive to the completion of the printing process.
