Why do we need label standardization?

Labels also have permit standard.

At present, when foreign clothing brands enter China, the biggest problem is label. As different countries have different labeling requirements. Take size marking for example, foreign clothing models are S, M, L or 36, 38, 40, etc., while Chinese clothing sizes are marked by human body shape, height and chest circumference (waist circumference). If the sizing is not carried out in accordance with the provisions of Chinese standards, it is not in accordance with the requirements of Chinese national standards and cannot be sold in the Chinese market.

If the sizing is not carried out in accordance with the provisions of Chinese standards, it is not in accordance with the requirements of Chinese national standards and cannot be sold in the Chinese market. But in foreign countries, product manufacturers generally have strict quality requirements for their products, and both sides of the trade generally use trade standards to monitor product quality, and there are few unified national product standards to standardize products.

Third, “pH value and color fastness requirements” is a common problem in the quality supervision and spot check of China’s textile and apparel market. Relatively speaking, the relevant standards in China may have stricter requirements on the pH value and color fastness of textiles and garments than those in foreign markets. In fact, there is no mandatory requirement for pH value in the world at present, and the slightly higher or lower pH value of water extraction liquid of textile and clothing can be corrected by simple treatment. With regard to color fastness, the implementation of uniform and strict standards may make it difficult for some personalized designs.

If imported clothing is sold in the domestic market, it must first meet China’s mandatory standards and then meet the final product standards as the product is labeled. The industry should popularize the compulsory standard GB5296.4-1998 “Instructions for Use of Consumer Goods Instructions for Use of Textiles and Clothing”, and attach importance to the conformity of product labeling.

Label standardization can promote textile development.

For the future development trend, the setting of product standards should be appropriately simplified.

At the beginning of 2010, the relevant departments of the state implemented 10 national standards of clothing. The pH value of clothing that directly touches the skin should be between 4.0 and 8.5, and the formaldehyde content of suits should not exceed 300 milligrams per kilogram. According to the national compulsory standard GB18401-2010 “National Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textile Products” requirements, infant textile products must be marked with the word “infant products” on the use instructions, other products should be marked with the basic safety technical requirements category.
